Did you know? ELVIS just entered the world of EV conversions

As EV conversion enthusiasts YouTube naturally is our preferred news channel.

Recently, we came across an inspiring video. On the surface it is about the conversion of a 1998 Nissan Frontier truck, owned by Dave in Colorado, USA.

However, when watching the talk between Dave and Jimmy of EV Swap Conversions, his partner in the conversion, it becomes clear that there is more to it than just a technically interesting conversion (take solar power and replaceable battery pack as an example).

On the one hand Dave’s motivation for the conversion was reasonable performance and a more sustainable daily ride. However, even more important was his intention to be a role model for young people showing that working on cars today is more than nuts and bolts and wrenches.

In fact, Dave says, his conversion has proofed to be a laboratory on wheels for middle/high school and vocational students who have also worked on the car.

The involvement of students is the reason why Dave calls his conversion project ELVIS. It has nothing to do with the famous singer but stands for “Electric Learning Vehicle Involving Students”.

Watch the video and enjoy the talk between Dave and Jimmy.
