In November we announced the large upcoming upgrade of Johannes’ E-Touran. It is now complete and Touran gets a new data sheet:
- Nominal Capacity: 55 kWh (before 40 kWh)
- Usable Capacity: 50 kWh (before 35 kWh)
- Consumption: 140 Wh/km (before 160 Wh/km)
- Theoretical range: 357 km (before 218 km)
- Peak Charge Power: 100 kW (before 50 kW)
- 10-80% charge time: 30 min (before 45 min)
An interesting side affect is the reduced energy consumption. The figure is preliminary but keep in mind that it’s still winter time.
There are two reasons for this: the new battery has lower internal resistance and converts less energy to heat. And, along with the battery upgrade, Johannes installed some aeromods that block off certain cooling channels that are only needed under extreme conditions.
