Classic car association in the UK responds to popularity of EV conversions

The Historic & Classic Vehicles Association (HCVA) in the UK released Minimum Professional Standards (MPS) for EV conversions of classic vehicles. In a statement the HCVA said that

“electric conversions of classic cars are steadily increasing in popularity, especially for owners living in towns and cities, and incorporation of electric motive power can provide a new lease of life for vehicles which otherwise might become unviable in some locales.”

Directed towards workshops in the classic vehicle electrification industry, the MPS provides a framework and checklist on critical issues in an EV conversion.

This includes safety and regulatory compliance based on topics such as weight distribution, structural considerations and logic protocols. The training of workshop personnel and tooling issues are also addressed.

So, if you plan to work with a workshop for the electric conversion of your classic in the UK, it may be worthwhile to check whether it knows about the MPS which are available to trade members of the HCVA.
